I Felt Guilty – I Felt Sad – Once
When I am in Northern Virginia I live in a great house in a wonderful gated golf course community. Next to the golf course club house is a fitness center for all the residents. It has a gym with many weight machines, free weights, cardio machines and an aerobics/martial arts training room. There is also an outdoor pool and an indoor pool.
In the mornings I wake up to go to the bathroom (it is natural and a sign of good health to have to go both ways early in the morning). After I do and then wash my hands, I always lift the blinds and look out of the window to see the Morning Sky (In HIS Eye {Ref: Soul Rebel Song}). Sometimes it is still dark some time it is sunny or raining or even snowing. No matter how early I wake and look out I usually see lights on in the neighbors home or I see them pulling out of their driveway or I see cars going by to the right on the main road at the end of the street where I live.
There was a time when I felt guilty that they were up and going to work while I was going back to my warm, comfortable bed to sleep some more or picture the things that were coming into my life daily or think about the things that I would accomplish today.
Other times I was sad that every day they had to get up, when they probably did not want to get up, and get ready to go to a job that they usually did not want to go to. Even worse I knew that they had to face a hellish bumper to bumper commute no matter how far they were going or how early that they got up.
I was sad for them and sad for all the people in front of them, behind them and on each side of them as they inched along in their metal coffins {Ref: Point Break Movie}. All these people going to jobs that usually did not fulfill them.
In today’s economy many people do not face this yet they face an even worse unknown of what they will do.
Many are now somewhat happy just to have a job to go to and a small paycheck to bring home every other week.
Then I realized how fortunate you and I really were – We Know that There IS Something BIGGER out there for us.
